The challenges of being a student athlete
When you join college for studies, often you end up having to balance academics with sports. Being a student athlete is a challenge by itself- you need to balance the time you devote to studies and to sports. But if you are talented and have a passion for sports, there can be nothing better than being a student athlete. The US provides numerous opportunities to avail of this
Student athletes can avail of scholarships!
One of the privileges you get as being a student athlete is that you can apply for scholarships. These scholarships are offered by many colleges and help to motivate talented students. These scholarships are managed by the National Collegiate Athletic Association and other accredited organisations which ensures that the students are worthy of the awards and the institutions granting them are also equipped to provide them.
Commitment is required!
The procedure for being a student athlete involves the student signing a Letter of Intent with the college they intend to join. This stipulates the readiness of the student to join the four year educational course for the first time as a student athlete subject to being funded by the school and the student fulfilling the minimal requirements. IN addition, during the course of your academic life and as long as you remain an athlete scholar, you cannot take up professional commitments.
Balancing your studies and sports is vital!
Once you join your college as a student athlete, you need to keep in mind that life can get pretty challenging. As you need to balance your studies as well as participation in your specific sport, you need to have techniques at hand to help you manage them. The stress level can be very high as you need to demonstrate exceptional physical fitness and ability in your sport as well as also engage your mind in studies. On top of that, you have to ensure that you have a sufficient amount of time to enjoy social skills. So, do ensure that there are enough support systems and time management aids to help you survive and become an outstanding student athlete.
